Jeff Waskowiak's Recent Duathlon
The Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) duathlon is a 2 mile run, 16 mile bike, 2 mile run. It's a fast and flat course that takes place on the grounds of the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Tx. Jeff Waskowiak first raced the duathlon in November of 2009 and finished with a time of 1:09:03, placing 11th overall and 3rd in the 20-24 age group. On February 21st, he raced the TMS duathlon again and improved his finish time t o 1:08:18, placing 21st overall and 9th in the 20-24 age group. He was happy with the improvements in fitness, but was a little disappointed that the entire race was delayed 30 minutes because of heavy rain and lightning. The TMS duathlon is the largest duathlon in Texas, and this particular venue was hosting a collegiate challenge, consisting many racers representing several Division 1 Triathlon teams, such as Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, and UNT. The competition field was fierce, but with the Lords help, he was able to propel himself to a faster time, and a safe finish...not to mention a blueberry bagel and honey milk was waiting for him at the end of the race! His next big race this year will be Collegiate Nationals on April 17th in Lubbock, TX. Collegiate Nationals is an olympic distance triathlon (.9 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run). Jeff says, "With the help of my Triathlon Coach, Brent Poulsen, and the Lord's mercy and grace, I will be training hard and giving it my all. Pray that my body stays healthy and injury free, and that God uses me wherever my racing takes me."
